Guest guest
My wife, Alex Bury, who works for PeTA, explained to me that PeTA doesn’t treat dogs for heart worm infection because it is a long process and takes money away from their other programs like spay and neuter. PeTA doesn’t run a pet adoption service or a shelter. Animals they rescue who are adoptable are given to the local shelters. If they turned a dog with heart worm over to the local shelter, it would simply be euthanized within a few days. PeTA is willing to give a dog with heart worm to anyone who is willing to take care of one (and they have done so). It’s easy to sit around, talk about oppression, and criticize how PeTA is doing things. It’s much harder to actually take care of these animals yourself.
