Guest guest
Hello again animal lovers, And one more thing (or several things) you can do to end Canada's seal hunt -- please read this and then act on as many levels as you can. I know most of us are veg*ns, but it's still important to sign the pledge that we will boycott Canadian seafood, AND to send a message to the biggest exporter of seafood from the "sealing" provinces in Canada that we will boycott them until the seal hunt ends! Again, please come to the demonstration on Sunday, 12-2, at Union Square. Let's make sure Canada hears us loud and clear! For the animals, thank you! Nadine humanesociety [humanesociety] Friday, March 13, 2009 12:26 PMMay, NadineThink there's nothing left to do for baby seals? The seal hunt will begin again in a matter of days. You've done so much -- here's how you can save seals right now. Trouble with links or images? Want to share this email? Use this link:https://community.hsus.org/humane/notice-description.tcl?newsletter_id=31538837 March 13, 2009 Dear Nadine,I am writing because I desperately need your help to save the seals.Right now, even as defenseless harp seal pups nurse from their mothers, sealers are preparing their boats for the 2009 Canadian commercial seal slaughter. But there is hope on the horizon. We are very close to a victory that could save hundreds of thousands of seals from a horrible fate. How close? Next month, the European Union will consider banning its trade in seal products, closing the doors on one of the largest markets for seal fur. We've reached a critical tipping point, and we must keep the momentum going before this year's kill begins. You've done so much before -- here's what you can do right now to help seal the deal and end the hunt:Ask your friends and family to join you in signing the pledge to boycott Canadian seafood until the hunt ends. Our goal is to reach 1,000,000 signatures -- we've already gathered more than 630,000 signatures, and if everyone who sees this email tells 5 friends, we'll reach our goal overnight.Tell Clearwater -- one of the largest exporters of seafood from the sealing provinces -- that you will be boycotting Canadian seafood until seals are safe. Clearwater has the power to help convince the Canadian government to stop this slaughter forever.Get mobile alerts from the ice sent to your phone -- you'll know the minute the hunt begins, and we'll keep you posted on whether the EU decides to enact a ban on seal imports. And we'll tell you ways you can help.Show your love for seals on Facebook. Watch cute seal videos, play games, and share with your friends. You can also follow us on Twitter to get real-time updates as the hunt nears. Two things will end the hunt forever: Shutting down markets for seal fur and hitting the Canadian seafood industry where it hurts most -- its bottom line. You've brought us closer than ever to reaching these goals, and your renewed commitment to ending the hunt will make victory possible at last.Your actions continue to be the driving force behind ending Canada's commercial seal hunt. Thank you so much for standing with us. Sincerely, Rebecca AldworthDirector of Canadian Wildlife IssuesThe Humane Society of the United StatesP.S. The Canadian government has responded to mounting international pressure with toothless regulations that do nothing to make the hunt more "humane." We won't be fooled by a government PR campaign. We demand that Canada end the commercial seal hunt forever -- nothing less. Copyright © 2009 The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) | .
