Guest guest
Dalai Lama will speak on Peace Through Compassion 2009-04-25 at 2pm. Doors open at 12noon. I will be on the sidewalk in front of the Greek Theatre entrance from 11:30am-2pm handing out veg leaflets, and talking to people about vegetarianism. Please join me for any part of that time. I will make a leaflet targeted at this audience. The leaflet will say something like: Practice Compassion Through Vegetarianism; it will connect Buddhist principles, non-violence & vegetarianism; and have a small list of resources : BayAreaVeg.org, PETA.org, VeganOutreach.org and my sites BayVajra.info & RawVeg.info. Please let me know in advance if you want me to make leaflets for you, and how many. You can use my leaflets, or bring literature from your favorite vegan group. Before entering the theater, people get in lines to go through security. It's easy to leaflet then. They wait in line, moving slowly with nothing to do, you give them something interesting to read. After the talk they exit all at once moving quickly, leafleting is not successful then. When the Dalai Lama taught in SF in 2007, we distributed 2,000+ veg leaflets. When Karmapa (a Tibetan Buddhist teacher, and a vegetarian) taught in Seattle last year, we distributed 1,000 veg leaflets. Those were multi-day teachings, this time there is only one talk. It's difficult to find Buddhists willing to do vegetarian leafleting, so I really appreciate the help of BayAreaVeg activists. No knowledge of Buddhism is needed, your kind intentions to help people and animals are more than enough. This activist effort is on official BAVeg event.
