Guest guest
Hello Keleigh, Welcome to the Bay Area! Here in the East Bay, many African and Middle Eastern markets carry bulk items such as rice, lentils and spices. I haven't been there in years, but Country Sun on 440 S California in Palo Alto had a bulk section the last time I was there. As for community, I help organize a monthly vegan potluck and discussion series in Oakland. People come from all over the Bay Area, including Marin and the south bay, to share a meal, be part of a vegan-friendly community, and discuss various aspects of veganism. Another woman who just moved here from Seattle attended a recent meetup! We're a friendly, supportive group and welcome all vegan-friendly people. Our next potluck is on March 7th and you're very much welcome to come share good food and thoughtful conversation. You may find all the details at our web site. You may also consider joining the Vegan Buddies Project of LOVE, Living Opposed to Violence and Exploitation. This project helps connect people interested in building strong communities dedicated to fighting all forms of oppression, including speciesist oppression. Vegan buddies help support each other in living veganism. Welcome again to the Bay Area! I appreciate the difficulty of finding community in a new place. Please know that you are invited and welcome to come to the potlucks; one of the reasons we started organizing them was to help people feel less isolated and more connected. Warmly, Victor ---------------- Hello my peeps-vegans, veggies, tree-huggers, I want to find out where I can buy things in bulk in the Mt. View area (besides Whole Foods/Whole Paycheck). I live in Mt. View, moved here 6 months ago from Seattle. Almost every store in Seattle has huge bulk sections- that's just how I shop. I feel like I'm in a different country here. Also I would like to know where like minded vegans hang out. Basically I'm looking for my peeps in this strange & foreign land. I'm seeking community. I feel lost & isolated. I am a single mom of 2, a Yoga instructor, & employee at Trader Joe's. Any pointers, links, or advice would be greatly appreciated.
