Hello All,Grim news: Rossmoor Retirement Community has decided to move ahead with shooting the acorn woodpeckers, according to this Audubon blog: http://www.audublog.org/?p=919We need to put pressure on the USFWS to revoke the depredation permit given to Rossmooor, so please help make calls.Tami Tate-Hall is head of the USFWS Migratory Bird Permit Office, 911 NE 11th Ave., Portland, OR 97232; or tami_tatehall@ fws.gov; (503) 872-2715.When I called and spoke to someone else at the USFWS a few weeks ago, all she would say was that they were handling it "internally." I heard that the

USFWS was conducting an investigation because apparently, the issuing agency, the Dept of Agriculture, used erroneous information in deciding to issue the permit. The public deserves to know what the USFWS learned and if it shows that the permit was issued using faulty assumptions, the permit should be revoked. (Do not be surprised if the person on the phone is not warm and fuzzy). Please pass this on to anyone you know who can help. Thanks so much,Carla
