Guest guest
Hello group, I am a Biology student who would rather not have to allow animals to be sacrificed for my education. I will be taking a comparative anatomy class in the spring and I wrote in advance to ask my professor if killing animals will be required for the course. He was very kind and said we do have the option of using live or pickled species (cats, rats or minks) he let me know that even if we do not do the killing, they will be killed by others. I don't want to kill any animals, but I also don't want to have to study animals that are raised then killed for the purpose of being studied. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions regarding this? Michelle
Guest guest
Hi allMichelle, I can certainly understand your position and dilemma. >I am a Biology student who would rather not have to allow>animals to be sacrificed for my education. PCRM does a lot of work in education of schools and replacing use of animals in medical labs, etc. Have you tried contacting them for assistance with this? Here's an example of some information that PCRM has on their website -http://pcrm.org/resch/meded/index.htmlBut I think if you can contact them (maybe call them) you could solicit more direct assistance in getting your school to allow you and others alternatives to animal-based studies.
