Guest guest
i love this group, thanks for all the recipes. like many of you i use carrots almost every day in my cooking, and i was getting very tired of chopping them. i decided one day a few months ago to just half the carrots, cook them in the lentil soup i was making until they were soft and then break them up into smaller pieces. to my surprise, they were perfectly cooked and still firm on the inside and even seemed to have held their flavor better. since then i haven´t once overcooked carrots and haven´t sliced them either. i pretty much break them in two pieces and put them in the soup. when they´re cooked i quite easily cut them into smaller pieces. well, maybe not a new idea, but it was to me, and i thought i would pass it on. happy cooking, Lorna
Guest guest
This is a great idea, also because it's healthier to cook carrots whole & then slice them. Cooking them whole retains more of the nutrients & flavor! http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/154358.php Ashley , Lorna McLaughlin <lorna_mclaughlin wrote: > > i love this group, thanks for all the recipes. like many of you i use carrots almost every day in my cooking, and i was getting very tired of chopping them. i decided one day a few months ago to just half the carrots, cook them in the lentil soup i was making until they were soft and then break them up into smaller pieces. > > to my surprise, they were perfectly cooked and still firm on the inside and even seemed to have held their flavor better. since then i haven´t once overcooked carrots and haven´t sliced them either. i pretty much break them in two pieces and put them in the soup. when they´re cooked i quite easily cut them into smaller pieces. > > well, maybe not a new idea, but it was to me, and i thought i would pass it on. > > happy cooking, > > Lorna >
