Guest guest Posted June 13, 2009 Report Share Posted June 13, 2009 It takes too much baking soda to make take the gas out for me. It isn't healthy to eat too much baking soda. My mother always taught me to soak beans overnight, but that only gets them ready for cooking. Here's the real old world way: Soak for 24 hrs. Drain water off after 12 hrs and again at the end of the 24 hrs. That should take care of a lot of gas. Then, maybe add just 1 teaspoon of baking soda for good measure in the second 12 hr soak. If you forget about them too long, then start to soak and rinse and just use as sprouts in your raw dishes.
