Guest guest Posted April 26, 2009 Report Share Posted April 26, 2009 Turkish White Beans 1 oz. olive oil 1 large onion, coarsely chopped 11/2 large cinnamon sticks, broken 1 lb 5 ozs. cooked white beans or butter beans 1 1/2 tsps. salt 1/2 tsp. coarse black pepper 1 tsp. mild chilli powder 15 ozs. water 10 ozs. chopped, tinned tomatoes 6 cloves of garlic, coarsely chopped 1 tsp. sugar juice of 1 lemon 2 ozs. flat leaf parsley, chopped Heat the oil and lightly sauté the onions and cinnamon. Add the beans, salt, black pepper, chilli powder and water. Bring to the boil. Simmer for 15 minutes then add the tomatoes, garlic, sugar and lemon juice. Simmer for a further 5 minutes.
