Quarterback Hummus

 

1 16 ounce can garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed

3 tablespoon tahini

3 garlic cloves, minced

juice of one lemon

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon cumin

pinch of cayenne

salt to taste

 

Toasted Pita Sticks:

1 package whole-wheat pita bread

3 tablespoons olive oil

2 teaspoons dill

2 teaspoons oregano

1 teaspoon basil

1 teaspoon paprika

2 teaspoons garlic minced

1 tablespoon sea salt

    

Hummus::Put all the above ingredients in a food processor or blender and blend

until smooth. Thin with a little water if hummus is too thick. Chill and serve

with toasted pita sticks.

Pita Sticks: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cut pita into 1 inch strips or 6

triangles. Arrange on a cookie sheet. Brush the top of each pita evenly with

oil. Mix the dill, oregano, basil, paprika, garlic and sea salt together and

sprinkle evenly over the pitas. Bake for about 8 to 10 minutes or until browned

and crispy.
