Guest guest
I've never heard this. I know I toss a piece of konbu in the soup, stew and bean post to help with gas. Guest guest
konbu/kombu works, chai tea doesn't Rich gourmet-garden-of-spicy-vegetarian- eatin , " chelsea_cheetah " <chelsea_cheetah wrote: > > I've never heard this. Note, these work very much like simethicone, the active ingredient in Gas-X. They don't reduce the actual production of gas--what they do is break down gas bubbles in the gut so the gas can be expelled more easily (and quietly ) , and doesn't stay trapped and cause gas pains. Beano will cut down actual gas production for many people, if and only if you take it every time and according to the directions. Kombu works for many people too, also by the enzyme method (though I don't recall if it's the same enzyme; probably not, since you can seemingly cook kombu without destroying it,). And some dietary adjustment and a good probiotic like plenty of live-culture yogurt or soygurt will sure help over the long haul. But we're always gonna have some gas, and it does have a purpose: Not to be graphic, it. . .er. . .helps move the mail. And ancient Japan, where they ate loads of kombu, still had hotly contested regional wind-breaking contests.
