Guest guest Posted April 28, 2007 Report Share Posted April 28, 2007 Canadian Chili 2 garlic cloves, minced 4 onions, chopped 1 tbsp. oil 1 tbsp. chili powder 2 tsps. cumin, ground 1/4 tsp. cinnamon 3 tbsps. basil, chopped 1 tbsp. oregano, chopped 1 tbsp. marjoram, chopped 1/4 tsp. cayenne 1 cup celery, chopped 1 1/2 cups green bell pepper, chopped 4 cups tomatoes, crushed 1/2 cup unsalted peanuts, toasted 4 cups kidney beans, cooked 1 tbsp. molasses salt and pepper Saute garlic and onions in oil in a large skillet. Stir in the chili powder, herbs and spices. Let cook for a few minutes longer. Stir in the celery, bell pepper and tomatoes. Simmer for 15 minutes. Coarsely chop the peanuts and stir in with the remaining ingredients. Simmer gently for 20 to 30 minutes. Serve hot. serves 6. Ahhh...imagining that irresistible " new car " smell?
