Guest guest
Hi Pat... sorry for any confusion due to my word usage of the term " witnessin' " . Yes, it is generally seen in the religious context, but i was just being silly-fun and using it in the context of making vegetarian converts. i guess my mind just " went there " when i saw the word " convert " used here so many times the past few weeks. i am not religious about religion, that's for darn sure! *lol* Happily Heathen. i do like the idea of helping open people's minds to a better way of eating by sharing our good vegetarian lifestyle benefits [when they ask me] and mostly our recipes. Okay, i am cool with the creepy sounds of that lye use in the production of hominy now. i am determined to try some of those white hunks in a can. Thank you to all for the useful info about the nutrients and preparation ideas. i shall report back as soon as i try it. Bron, i hear you and completely understand about how seeing dead turkeys in the supermarket in such HUGE quantities can be upsetting. i have a friend who is the meat manager for one of those big market chains [you can just imagine us chatting about food, eh *lol*... talk about debates], anyway, he told me the worst part of all the turkey carnage is that they will have to toss many of them in the garbage dumpster after the holiday season! What an outrage to consider those poor beasts being needlessly born, raised and killed all for waste. i asked why they didn't give them to food banks, or something! He said they do as much as will take them, but they always have way more that is ever needed. UGH! Crying shame. ~ pt ~ TÊ hanks for time to be together, talk, and tangy weather. HÊ for harvest stored away, home, and hearth, and holiday. AÊ for autumn's frosty art, and abundance in the heart. NÊ for neighbors, and November, nice things, new things to remember. KÊ for kitchen, kettles' croon, kith and kin expected soon. SÊ for sizzles, sights, and sounds, and something special that about. That spells THANKS for joy in living and a jolly good Thanksgiving. ~ Aileen Fisher, All in a Word
