Guest guest
These are really pretty, easy to make, and kids love helping with these. " Mexican Snowflakes " 1 dozen flour tortillas (no lard and they sould be the small size) 1/4 scant cup butter or margarine melted 1 cup powdered sugar with 2 tsp. cinnamon mixed into it Preheat oven to 425 degrees Set out baking sheets lined with parchment or the new non-stick foil. Take one tortilla at a time and place between two very slightly damp paper towels (not wet just damp). Place in microwave for about 15 to 20 seconds, this is just to soften. Fold tortilla in half and then fold in half again. It will look like a triangle. Using a small very sharp pair of scissors, cut out holes or designs like we did as kids when making paper dollies. Unfold and you will see the design. Set unfolded snowflakes onto baking sheet Brush each side with a little butter and bake for 5 minutes, flip tortilla over and bake for another 3 to 5 minutes or until golden crisp. Set waxed paper under a wire rack. When tortillas are done, place on wire rack and dust with the powdered sugar and cinnamon mixture, when cooled turn and dust the other side also. I usually fill up a parmesan cheese shaker mini jar as my shaker. FareChase - Search multiple travel sites in one click.
