This is a good recipe and adds lots of flavor. My Gran said the " X: lets the

smell out.....LOL My Mom always said the " X " makes any sauce or flavoring

penetrate deeper in the sprouts since that's the root area and also helps them

cook faster. Maybe it's like the dye that travels up flowers from the water

when the florist colors them. I always thought it was a way of decorating them

.. You know what? That really is a good questions. Help us in here, what is

the " X " for.................Donna

wonderful. i bet folks that don't really care for the

cabbagie taste will enjoy the flavor this sauce

imparts. But i was wondering why the 'x' cut?

i have seen that before in other b.sprouts recipes,

but never knew why it was done. *lol* Thanks.

First thing I thought of was that it would allow the bottom to be more tender

when eating. Since the bottom is the hard part, it would allow the sprout to

collapse while biting, thus making a more tender sprout. :o)

I think it's kinda like putting those nails in a baking potato - so

the core will also cook from the center out. That way it's done when

the little teeny leaves are done, rather than having either done

leaves and hard core, or tender core and mushy leaves...
