Guest guest
Amy -- Your account of the Chai made by putting loose tea directly into milk may quite well be more authentic than the my version. That " one-pot " method sounds like it would be more practical if one were cooking the traditional way over an open fire, as millions still do in South and central Asia. Craig -- Hooray for your vote in favor of loose tea. I know someone at work who does as you do, and I plan to start doing the same. Incidentally, this may be of interest to the members of the group: a few years ago, I saw something in a televised documentary about widows in India who traditionally adopted a vegetarian diet (this was one way of " withdrawing from the pleasures of life " in honor of their deceased husbands), and many of whom consequently became renowned vegetarian cooks who were much sought after by Brahmins and others whose lifestyle was traditionally vegetarian. In addition, these women were reputed to live long lives due to their healthy diet. If there are any people reading this who know more about this tradition, I would be interested in your response. wrote: There are 25 messages in this issue. Topics in this digest: 1. Do you know what kind of stores sell it? I also told him about kava, which I think I read about in this group the other day. -Craige On 10/10/05, Amy wrote: > > > See, it makes sense for someone who is a speed freak to have trouble > > sleeping, but my husband is quite mellow and loves sleeping 8 or 9 > > hours, if he doesn't have to be up in the a.m. He just has trouble > > turning off his brain at night.
