It is a real possibility and you're lucky that you haven't gotten sick. However, Salmonella is rarely deadly and has more flu-like symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, achy muscles, which occur 6 to 72 hours from ingesting the bacteria. Also, the salmonella bacteria is on more things than just eggs.
