I know dairy plays a huge part in sinus trouble for many, amoung other ares namely the stomach Is your FM worse with sugar? That really bothers Mom's FM situation so she tried to avoid it except for a piece of hard candy now and then. I can handle about a tbsp or so on hot cereal in morning but that's it. if it's a processed-junky-snacky-thingy, it's guaranteed to taste good for the moment but is a few days of pain after that : ). but since changing over to veggie diet my sugar cravings just aren't there anymore. drinking a diet pop with artificial sweetener tastes too sweet. I am discovering I can handle hard cheeses in SMALL amounts and some plain yogurts, esp homemade. I think my fibro flares up a lot with straight milk in large amounts, sugar, excessive protein, and additives/preservatives which are found in nearly any convenience food there is : ). cooking from scratch is my best bet and avoiding the above as much as possible. the other things that are critical for me to stay pain-free is moderate exercise (walking) and plenty of rest. best of luck to your mom--it's not fun but it's manageable. finding what the triggers are for her and being able to eliminate them as much as possible helps. I had never considered dairy to be a trigger for me until I laid off it for a trial week to see if it would help with seasonal allergies. I found that although my seasonal allergies are still there, they are very tolerable without medication whereas before I was on 2 medications that barely held them. the biggest change was definitely no pain though-- I don't remember a time in the past 9 years not having joint pains : ). take care : ).............
