real name- Spanish Garlic Soup from Nikki & David Goldbeck's American Wholefoods Cuisine

12 cloves garlic, peeled and chopped

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teas black pepper or generous pinch of cayenne ( i use cayenne)

1 teas. mixed dried basil, oregano, sage, thyme ( i've left this out and it was still good soup)

1 bay leaf

5 cups water

2 tbls oil ( i leave this out)

2 slices whole grain bread (I leave this out too)

grated parmesan cheese (optional)

combine garlic, seasoning, water, and oil and bring to a boil. cover and simmer for 30 minutes. crumble bread into soup and return to a boil. remove bay leaf, serve plain or with grated cheese.

Serves 4

my easy way - throw garlic, spices, and a cup or so of the water in the blender. chop or grate till garlic chopped. pour into pan with remainder of the water, bring to a boil - turn fire off and eat your warmed up raw garlic! LOL. or cover and simmer for 30 min. and have cooked garlic. I've found the closer to raw the garlic is the quicker it helps my cold...........and if I have to be around other people they keep their distance so I'm protected from secondary infections!

When out of fresh ingredients garlic powder and cayenne tea is good for a cold too. +/or cayenne tea, cayenne in tomato juice, cayenne in anything, it's high in vit c and i forget what else, good for you anyway.

Hope you feel better soon,

peace,

Angela

Re: The Minestrone Recipe... and Black Bean Pizza Chanda & Anne

The pizza was wonderful, I have some for lunch. I woke with a cold so I won't be able to taste the leftovers but I have the flavor in my memory. Thanks, Donna
