Guest guest
Bron- I grew up with Mom using a KitchenAid and it was basically just hers. I never touched it. She has gone through a few of them. Last year her mixer wasn't going into gears so you couldn't really use it for bread. I gave it to my nephews wife and she makes cakes with it. As soon as I got a new one for Mom (her Christmas gift) she started failing in her strength and isn't baking anymore (she's 81 now). I have this new almond colored monster on the sink and I never touch it. I have used it 2 times and just don't care for it. I knead by hand (makes me think it's my rude customers on the breadboard.LOL ) or I use my KitchenAid hand mixer. I also make mashed potatoes by hand with the masher. I can't stand the dishwasher either. I like the dishes cleaned up and put away immediately. I also scrub the floors on hands and knees. Don't laugh, I scrub the tile patio on hands and knees also............(:- ))) Donna Bron <southernflower wrote: Hi Donna, I would love to have a new KitchenAid mixer! Mine is 25 years old and sad to say, she's about to give up the ghost. I can't make bread in her anymore, (I did it for the last time about two weeks ago and it was HARD on the motor!) and so that's that. Dh and I are saving up to get one of those new KitchenAids, the larger size bowl, so that I can make the whole recipe of my great bread at once--instead of condensing it down to four loaves (it makes six originally). Also, I can double recipes of just about anything as well, making it great for giving away food. Wow, you have one and don't use it? Wow. <tries not to be envious> One of those things you thought you'd use and don't, likely, huh. Too bad. I bet you could trade it for something else, like on craigslist, for example. For something you'd use, I mean. Just an idea. I am changing my kitchen motif to cherries, so the bright red KitchenAid I have my eyes on (and saving for in the bank) will be juuuuust perfect for the look and the use thereof! Bron, who also uses her dishwasher every day and would prefer not to get along without... To each her own!
