Guest guest
The little cafe/restaurant next to the siteI used to work at made this fabulous herb cheese bread, and myself and my co-workers thought we'd never get the recipe. Low and behold, when the business changed hands, they gave out the recipe to us die hards... and here it is! While I'm sure it can be made vegan, I've personally never gotten used to the vegan cheeses, and still do have some egg in my diet. I remain staunchly ovo-lacto! Herbed Cheese Bread Combine: 2 cups flour 1 tbsp sugar 2 tsp baking powder 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp basil ½ tsp thyme ¼ tsp sage ¼ cup margarine cut in Add: 1 cup shredded medium/old/jack cheddar 1 egg, scrambled ½ cup yogurt ½ cup milk Dump into a round or square 9” pan, sprinkle with poppy seeds, and bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Enjoy!!
