When I was growing up if your stomach hurt the doctors would push milk on you. I had every test you can imagine. Barium enemas, upper GI's just everything. Strong doses of belladonna to where my eyes were out of focus and mouth dry. It was horrible and the only thing the dcos would say is, she's got a nerevous stomach. Have her eat cottage cheese and drink milk. I couldn't stand to even look at milk and never drank it but I would eat yogurt and cottage cheese and I felt worse and worse. I would say 25 yrs ago when I became a vegetarian my stomach problems were cut in half. By the time I had the patch test on my back and found out the only allergy I have is cow's milk, I have no more problems at all.

My niece is also allergic to cow's milk and she had the same problem. Tons of sinus meds and nothing helped her. She was constantly on antibiotics for sinus infections and using variousprescription nasal sprays. She won't touch dairy and she's fine. She is finishing her last year of medical school and she said the first thing she will do with all her patients is sit and listen to them and talk to them about nutrition and what's in their diet and order allergies tests, etc. She was diagnosed about the same time I was. If I didn't have the patch test she and I would still be suffering and taking all types of prescriptions drugs. I'm not saying everyone such give up milk products but it's worth a try if you have any of these symptons and see if they clear up once you stop. Dairy intolerance and allergy aren't the same thing.

Now your daughter can handle the soy formula? My Mother is allergic to soy. Other nephew is covered with hives if he eats one strawberry. We are all different. I have a girlfriend that spent quite a bit of money going to a nutritionist and she didn't seem to find any help there. The vegetarian diet has helped her 100% Seems she had most of her problems with preservatives.aithneelecktra <aithneelecktra wrote:

Wow! At least you found out what the problem was! My daughter was the same way. She was on Soy formula because she did not tolerate regular formula. The first week or so all she did was cry until we switched! I appreciate any help I can get! This is a very large subject area and it affects a large amount of our food supply today. Preservatives and anything man amde scares me. I just think there are some things we were not meant to tamper with and food is one of them. I also use regular cows milk in recipes.. I am not real fond of how soy milk taste. My daughter likes the vanilla one, but that is it. I am really at a lose for nutritional info and how to meet her needs with the foods that are out there. I was thinking maybe I should take a nutrition class or

something like that. ---"In the present position of the planets, it's impossible to say;Just when I'll find my course again, with the boulders in my way.I should be rolling down the skyway on my cosmic wheels;Instead of stumbling down this highway on my boots of steel"Source: Cosmic Wheels by Donovan
