Guest guest
Thanks for the great ideas. This is exactly what has worked in our house, and Mexican food with mashed beans instead of meat (part or all) Question though, what are E numbers? Guest guest
Hi Don't have a technical explanation, but E numbers are a method of categorising additives to food. Can be for preservatives, colouring, flavouring etc. Think it's a European Union thing. Not all E numbers are for man-made or 'bad' additives, but quite a lot of them are! There was a big thing about them in the UK a few years back, and certain numbers were publicised, for example like tartrazine (E102) potentially causing hyper-activity in kids. Out of interest, I did a bit of research on the Net, and came up with the following links that might be of interest: http://www.vegsoc.org/info/enumbers.html - interesting, as much because I hadn't thought about the Veg Soc having a website! and http://www.mej.org.uk/mej/E-Numbers.htm - a full list of E numbers and possible affects. Mmmm, don't some of them sound yummy (not)!! Recipe for the jambalaya to come shortly... Liz Kris [kristc99] Friday, December 07, 2001 03:13 the transition, and E numbers? Thanks for the great ideas.
