Dear Kath,

I'm so pleased that you were able to find meaning in my email. O know how I have struggled and I know how I have had to come to terms with my own health. I have to take responsibility for it. I wish you well when you return to the Dr. I know it must be very scary for you. I am a wife and mother of three ages 7.6, and 3. I went for my first mammogram recently. It was not the horror story I had been told. The technicians were very conscience of my comfort and asked only that I bear as much as possible. I was in control. Thank heavens all turned out well. Thanks for your kind words and no, I am not British. I live in USA in NC

Good Luck!

Wishing you wellness,

Robin

thank you for your support and insight. when i was veggie the last few times it was the cravings that did me in. in hindsight i should have made a tiny steak and or chicken, taste it and toss it but i didnt. thanks for reminding me that doing my best is all that is necessary i forget that sometimes and want to do better than my best adn if i cant then i fail.. but this time i have to succeed.... last january my dr. found my breasts riddled with cysts and told me to go on a diet with no animal fats so i went veggie then slowly to vegan. vegan wasnt hard as up to that point i never ate dairy. the cysts dissolved and i continuted to read about how animal fat can reall cause problems for women and how women with cancer have been helped by a veggie diet... but i craved meat and now the problems are back.. only this time itis a mass in my breast and i have to have surgery next week. i think its time i make a commitment to my health and damn the torpedos. im more important than my cravings... im a wife too and a mom and im scared...i know that a veggie diet is the best every dr you talk to here in america will tell you that.. we are the most health concious country and yet we are the fattest.. i wont go there.. anyway thanks for your support.. by the way are you british by any chance ??

Re: New Here

Hi and Welcome.... I, too have been veggie a couple times. It's hard to fight the system with so much meat and meat products, etc., in our faces. I think we become desensitized by the time we are adults. I mean that steak on your plate doesn't really look or smell like a cow now does it? After eating veggie for a while it does help with remembering where it came from and reminds us of all the reasons we are better off doing without meat. I personally feel better and am healthier when I don't eat meat. To be honest, there are times when I crave a big steak or pork chop, I find that when I do this I often find myself eating everything in my way trying to curb the craving. I have no idea why this happens. When it does, I have found what works for me is to buy a steak or pork chop for my husband and buy it a little bigger than normal and fix it for him. I can take a bite or two and "zap" it cures me again for a while. I wish I were stronger and had more self control but at this point I do not. For the most part I can feel good about my diet. Don't beat yourself up.. do the best that you can. My Mother always told me to do your best and that's all anyone can ask.
