Guest guest
One can absolutly express tone through writing! The use of wording, puncutation, and capital letters can be carefully used to express emotion, feelings, and overall "tone". Have you ever read a horror novel, for example? Anyway, having said that, I am quite sure that Mary didn't mean to come across the way she did, and it is understandable that many on this list are passionate about issues surrounding vegetarianism. How about this... Since this IS a list for primarily sharing QUICK VEGETARIAN RECIPES, how about if we write "OT" when the topic is not about recipes, even if it IS about vegetarian issues. Whatcha' think?? theresa b <trinithree wrote: I am also confused about this discussion of "tone".It's an e-mail folks, there's no eyebrows wiggling or lowered voices to indicate that a "tone" would need to be taken into consideration. I myself have found it very hard to be sarcastic on e-mail. Anyway I just felt I needed to say that Make international calls for as low as $.04/minute with Messengerhttp://phonecard./
Guest guest
Thank you Preston and Tammi, I thought for a minute it was me. I am the one that sugested the negative tone to several posts. I think sometime it's easier to say we don't understand something than to really address it. Ant any rate, Mary says she did not intend any offensive tone to her posts and I take her at her word.
