Guest guest
We have a family conference on Saturday here to plan meals for the upcoming week, and then put together a list for the Sunday shopping trip. There is software you can get to help you. " Now You're Cooking " happens to be the one I use. When you plan your meals for the week it puts all the ingredients into a list, and even organizes it according to where things are in your store if you take the time to set that up. I'll add my $.02 to the " what's in your pantry " discussion (which has been very interesting, btw!) Mexican fixings - canned beans, tortillas/tostadas, salsa, peppers, lettuce, tomato, avacado, etc. Basic veggies - zucchini, onions, mushrooms, green peppers, brocoli, any others and any fruits that look like a good buy. Pasta fixings (flour - have pasta machine) veggies already mentioned, canned tomatoes of various kinds, feta cheese, rice, soy milk, cereal... that's most of the " always on hand " stuff supplimented with the menu of the week needs. It seems if hubby is shopping he should have some ideas of what to do with what he buys (or suffer with " experimental cooking " ) Cooking is more fun together anyhow! Guest guest
That's a great idea about the planning ahead and software, thanks for the tip! And, as for this comment.... >It seems if hubby is shopping he should have some ideas of >what to do with what he buys (or suffer with " experimental >cooking " ) Cooking is more fun together anyhow! > I totally agree and have told him this several times, but he actually seems content (most of the time) with any kind of wierd stuff that I come up with. It's mostly me who has the problem with it I guess, I don't like having to find something new to do with stuff that I've never seen before. And we can't really cook together at this time because we have a 21 month old son who likes to play at the time that I'm trying to cook, so his daddy entertains him. I guess I just need to be more organized, as much as I hate the thought!
