What is a cardamom pod?

 

By the way I made the lemon cashew rice tonight. I had to change some of

the more ritzy ingredients because Shoprite didn't have udar dal or whatever

it was (i used margerine...i didn't know what it was), but it came out well

and my guest liked it.
