Guest guest
I was brought up to eat meat too & am continuously getting grossed out at the same things & I'm really glad. And I'm feeling guiltier & guiltier too. I also still like bacon & sausage too but that's about it. I do like chicken but only if it's fixed by me. The junk food restaurants tastes funny to me. I still crave crab meat too. But I've come a long way. I get the Farm Sanctuary (they rescue & foster farm animals & are very involved in getting the laws changed) news brochure & I make myself read the whole thing & it's helping me to go veggie. My older sister's almost completely veggie, but she's doing it mainly because of the environmental issues involved with animal slaughter, but she's an animal lover too. I think this is interesting -- I have mixed feelings about this myself. I was also raised as a meat eater and I did enjoy a lot of meat tastes as a child. However, as I began to feel guiltier and guiltier about eating animals, even the meats I liked started to remind me of the living animal and I would become repulsed. Later it got so bad with things like hamburgers and chopped beef, that if I tasted the slightest pice of grizzle and then a vein in steak or in chicken, I would have to stop eating. Now I find the toughest things for me to give up are pig bacon and sausage for breakfast. So, I have also been buying the meat substitutes and trying them in place of links & such. I'm experimenting with TVP & soy patties and find that some do taste somewhat like the meat but not exactly, which is a good thing for me. The same with seafood. I ate once at an all vegan Chinese restaurant and I loved the non-seafood shrimp and fish. So, I guess those are the only two types of food I can still handle the meat taste of. The bacon & sausage is starting to get to me now too, but I still crave the seafood. We'll see what happens. Just rambling, Chris -- The punishment for animal torturers/abusers should be exactly what they did to the animal.
Guest guest
I was going through old posts looking for something and I came across this. HOw do you make fake seafood like shrimp and crab and such? I've been thinking about that. I looked in the grocery store..because the supposed crabmeat that they sell is not true crab BUT after looking at the ingredients, it is still made from fish...argh....so how do you make fake seafood exactly ? Thanks:) , turknyr8@a... wrote: > In a message dated 10/17/2000 3:52:55 AM Eastern Daylight Time, > @e... writes: > > > ...didn't realize you didn't like the taste of meat.
