Guest guest
Hi! I also live in the South and have been a veggie for about 10 years. The easy part is that both my husband and I are both veggies, so it is easier to cook. I love all the new soy based products that are out now, but wish we had better health food stores and more choices. I still like the easy, fast stuff for most nights, but need healthy food, not just no meat. If any of you are just trying to get a taste for tofu, try this pie. It was published in our local newspaper so is very mainstream. It is quick and easy and if you don't tell, no one knows it's tofu. (There is still the sugar, but if you eat desserts anyway, this is a bit better.) I have served it to many people who say they hate tofu, but have raved about this rich dessert. Rich Chocolate Soy Pie 1 12-Ounce package silken firm tofu (I usually use just firm or very firm for both packages) 1 12-ounce package silken soft tofu 1 12-ounce Package Semi-sweet chocolate chips (I have also used milk chocolate chips - also very good) 4 tablespoons light corn syrup 1 chocolate cookie crust (like oreo crumbs) Blend the two types of tofu until smooth. Melt chocolate slowly in a microwave; add syrup Pour that in the blender with the tofu and process until smooth and creamy. Pour into shell. Chill at least six hours. Makes eight servings, each with 303 calories and 15 grams of fat. A traditional french silk pie, cur into eight pieces has 730 calories and 59 grams of fat. Guest guest
Sounds like a wonderful recipe Terry. I would like to try it. I make a similar thing but I cheat! I use Mori-Nu firm silken tofu along with a packet of their delicious chocolate pudding mix. Yummy!
