Guest guest
Hello everyone. I'm new to the group as of today. Tomorrow will be my 30th b'day. High blood pressure runs in my family, and despite being a vegetarian (by no choice of my own--I've never liked red meat) I'm running borderline on high blood pressure. I eat red meat about three times every five years--whenever I get a " craving. " I don't eat pork. Chicken I'll eat once a month (maybe), and fish every so often, but only raw--as in sushi/sashimi. My biggest problem is finding LOW SODIUM vegetarian food. I'm well aware that sodium increases blood pressure. I'm also well aware that fat & salt are what make most foods taste good. I'm not opposed to animal products in my food with the exception of beef/pork and beef/pork broth--that taste just grosses me out. I enjoy cheese, cream sauces, eggs, etc., as much as I enjoy tofu and beans and rice. As I've said, it's hard to find any vegetarian items (or recepies) that aren't LOADED with sodium. I'm a web designer and a waiter so my time is often very tight when it comes to meal preparation. Anyone have any ideas? Send me ideas. Direct me to previous posts. I'm tired of beans and rice with olive oil and garlic. . . . Looking forward to chowing down, ..j.
