I lived there about 12 years ago and I'm sad to hear it's still not gotten any better. I used to live in Speedway and made a monthly trek to Georgetown Health Foods on Georgetown (Ave or St, can't remember). It was by a shopping mall and a car lot, that's about the best I can remember. I remember not eating out a lot simply because it was easier to NOT to have to put up with argumentative servers (it was the same in South Dakota). There were a few cafes downtown that offered a few veg dishes, the best bet is to try the cafes and " trendy " type places.
