I like tofu, yes, I love tofu! How do you cook tofu? I have been to San Francisco three times, and there were some tofu in a store.There was a section of Japanese food so I was surprised. Do many friend of this mail group eat tofu? I 'm interested in this. In Japan, there is "tonyu"that means soymilk.This is former type of tofu. When we make tofu, we add coagulant to soymilk. Recently the subject of soycheese came up in our mail, but I don't know the cheese. It is surprising ! Is the ingredient of the cheese and tofu the same? I would like to eat the cheese! I think that the most general way of eating tofu is pouring on some soy sauce and eating as it is .Condiments are used to enhance the taste of tofu. For examples. grated ginger, sliced chives and so on. If you have soy sauce ,please try fresh tofu. Today, some people use tofu for Smoothies, Lasagna(Italian food, a kind of pasta), or cheesecake.They aren't general but special food for health. I have never try Smoothies and cheesecakes but Lasagna tastes good. The woman who makes tofu smoothies says "You had better use banana when you make tofu smoothies." O O ¡üGrilled tofu with mushroom sause 600g kinugosi tofu (soft type tofu) 1 piece sliced garlic 2 table sppons vegetable oil -mashroom sauce- 300g mushroom sliced 2 table spoons butter or other oil 2 table spoons white wine 2 table spoons water 1 table spoon mirin 3 table spoons soy sauce ********************************* 1.Remove excess water from tofu; wrap tofu in paper towels, place on slitly tilted flat pan and place a light weight(about 2 lb) on top of the tofu for 10 minutes. 2. Slice tofu into 1 inch, sprinkle some salt and pepper. 3. Heat the oil , then add the garlic till golden, then take out the garlic. 4. Fry tofu with the oil until golden then dish out. 5. Heat the butter or oil in another pan, add mushroom and cook until soft. 6. Add wine, mirin, soy sauce, water and continue simmering until a little of the liquid is left. 7. Pour the sauce on the tofu.Place fried garlic on the top. ¡üMarinated tofu salad (This isn't traditional Japanese style) 300g kinugosi tofu (soft type tofu) 1 eggplant or zucchini 1 tomato diced - Marinade - 1 tea spoon chopped garlic 2 table spoons lemon juice 4 table spoons olive oil 2 table spoon rice vinegar 1 tea spoon soy sauce 1 tea spoon salt ********************************************** 1. Slice tofu and eggplant into bite-size pieces. 2. Fry eggplant till soft, and cool down. 3. Mix marinade sauce, add tofu, eggplant, tomatoes and cool it in the refrigerator about 20minutes.
