Guest guest
Hi -- this is Charlie from San Jose. I've been vegetarian for over two years, vegan for the last year, and am now getting into raw. I'm also diabetic, which influences everything. I think my diabetes has been exacerbated mainly by my weight, which is much too high. But on my new raw diet, I've lost 10 pounds in the last month -- something that for me has been very hard to do up until now. My latest weight is lower than it's been in many years. My blood sugar has also gone normal every morning when I test it. I've not only gone to as much of a raw food diet as is possible in our culture, but I've done some other things that are related. I've started taking BarleyGreen juice-powder before every meal -- a heaping teaspoon in 4 oz. water. This has already done some pretty amazing things for me. I've bought a water distiller (Tribest), and am trying to insure that the only liquids I drink are distilled water and fruit/vegetable juice. You would be surprised at this. I've been drinking bottled water, but distilled is far superior. Also cheaper in that I don't pay the bottled water distributor anymore. I've bought a Green Life juice extractor for juicing. I find it necessary to keep this always at the ready, clean, and ready to juice new stuff. I try to juice it and consume it as quickly as possible. I thought I knew a lot about nutrition being a vegan, etc. But I did not. I now know that when you leave the produce department of your grocery store, there is no more nutrition left anywhere in the store. Without live enzymes, food is dead -- and I don't want to eat dead food if I can help it. Eating raw food is both economical and quick. I seldom cook. My objective is to eat 85% raw and no more than 15% dead. This diet exists under many names. But however called, it is the most healthful diet -- or rather lifestyle -- that I have discovered. I want to live my life the most healthy that I can. I'm trying to gather information to support people who want to be healthy. So I've created a website called http://www.veggi-green.com -- it's very much under construction, but open to suggestions and contributions of content. ============================================================================ Fri, 18 Aug 2000 17:08:36 -0400 (EDT) *J*K* *C* <Jaydog RE: Shelf lives and cooking/raw recommendations I hope everyone will remember that those cooking/raw recommendations as well as the shelf life lists were JUST SUGGESTIONS - food will digest just as well raw and have necessary enzymes needed for metabolism - food can also be safely eaten after YEARS on the food shelf - and the flavor will be just as good. Some people live very healthy lives on totally raw food diets. I personally become annoyed at these food shelf life lists - I believe that it encourages wastefulness as well as extravagance in spending in a world that needs more frugality. ~~Jenny
Guest guest
Ok - you have my interest. I am an infant vegetarian. It has been a long and slow evolution. This will show my ignorance of the subject but please bear with me I am only trying to learn more. Exactly what do you eat now? I understand you are eating raw fruits and vegetables. Does this eliminate grains, beans etc? Now I am thinking - corn on the cob - you don't cook it right? I am wondering what does breakfast, lunch and supper contain? I hope you are not offended by all these questions. I really am trying to get a firm idea of what raw eating is. ______________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
