What an amazing group! First I lurked, and then I had to join. I am

completely new to crockpots and a vegetarian diet. I can't offer much

in the way of recipes at this point, because the only action my crockpot

has ever seen is with stuff I don't really wanna mention!

I am an adventuresome person, so as I acquire more courage to concoct my

own delights, or when I come across something I have tried and like, I

will make sure to post it.

I am always looking for new bean ideas - both husband and young adult

sons are opposed, but I am adamant that they WILL convert given some

really good dishes.

Thanks again for allowing me join.

Hi Rhonda,

I've been lurking for a while as well, I haven't quite got the hang of my slow

cooker and it seems to be quite different from what everyone else is using. e.g.

it just has an 'on' switch with no settings so I'm never sure about cooking

times. I've found textured soya works really well though especially for a

bolognaise type sauce. I do it all by eye but for the basic recipe I put in

tinned tomatoes, garlic, oregano, mixed spices, 1 tspn sugar and textured soya

(which I mix in really well), sometimes I also throw in a finely diced red

pepper and sometimes when I can get basil I put that in as well. Then I switch

it on. I leave it until I need it but it needs a good couple of hours at least,

also I pour away the water that collects in the lid.. My meat eater hubby says

it really like regular bolognaise sauce so maybe you would like it? Sorry I

can't give you a setting like other recipes. Mine's a very basic cooker with a

hot plate so I would guess that it

would be a low setting on others. TSP comes out much nicer when it's slow

cooked.
