A moment of silence for a valiant little crock

My little crockpot suffered a tragic accident over the weekend. While DH was

trying to cope

with bugs he found in the pantry, he inadvertently dropped my rolling pin on the

baby crock

and broke it beyond usability. He was distressed to have broken one of my toys,

so I let him

off easy, just asking that he dispose of the remains. If/when I replace it, I

must find a safer

place to store it.

Try put your rolling pin in a draw under your baby crock.  LOL that to me would

be the safest place to keep that so that it won't fall out of your cabinets

again.  I have a little one that sits right next to my stove and I have to be

careful to not get it too close.

The rolling pin doesn't fit in my drawers, or at least not without taking up so

much of a

drawer that I'm unwilling to put it there. There are exactly four drawers in my

kitchen and

they are all full. The cabinets are all full, too. So the rolling pin lives on

the top shelf of a

bookcase in the " pantry. " It sticks out so I didn't want to put it on the bottom

and be

constantly knocking it off. I figured that it was on the far outside edge on the

top and out

of my way. And it is. DH must have knocked it while moving his Tostitos that

live on top of

it. Or just randomly knocked it while rummaging or trying to move that bookcase

because

he is not unconsciously aware of it being there the way I am. :-)

The better idea would be to find a place where the big crock and any eventual

little crock

can be tucked safely away. The big crock lives under that bookcase unless

somebody has

pulled it out to use it or check for bug trails. The little crock was in the

open next to the

vacuum cleaner. Sigh. If I ever redo the kitchen, I need to get rid of some

stuff or create

more storage.
