Guest guest
Hi Marilyn, thanks for responding, and I have 2 more questions. is the newstart cookbook called " The Weimar institute's Newstart cookbook " or is that something different? In the uncheese cookbook there are recipe's for cheese substitutes? So to make a recipe do you have to make a whole complicated cheese substitute and then the recipe? I sawa monastary cookbook like that, that's not so much how I cook. Newstart sounds like must have though. . .. I've been cooking out of Vegan Planet and liking it. Also made a fantastic white bean and roasted fennel pizza out of vegetarian planet (not vegan). I just love cookbooks. teresa
Guest guest
Teresa--I collect cookbooks. I love them too! Yes, Newstart is from Weimar, and I believe it does say Weimar Institute on the cover. As for the uncheeses, you do, of course, need to assemble ingredients for the uncheeses and then use them in recipes, but it's not really all that involved. Instead of using macaroni and grated cheddar and milk and butter in a recipe, you might now use macaroni and a sauce made from cashews, pimientos, nutritional yeast, and lemon juice, for example. Not too many " extra " ingredients there, and most are not complicated at all. Some take a bit of prep, some are just a matter of whizzing a few ingredients in a blender and pouring! If you love cheese, but are committed to eating dairy free, the Ultimate Uncheese Cookbook is a definite " must have " . I'm dying to try the substitute for fondue this week! BTW, don't you love the way this group is getting active? Maybe we don't stick to only crockpot discussions, but I really am enjoying the sharing--this group was too quiet for a long time! Now I'd better get off this computer and make my soup--I'm trying two new recipes for soup for dinner tonight. Not sure which ones--I'm browsing in my Newstart cookbook, as well as a McDougall one, to find good recipes and see which I have the ingredients for. Unfortunately, I don't have time for crockpot ones tonight--only an hour and a half till dinner here! Marilyn Mom of eight VERY interesting kids, and proud grandma-to-be of TWINS!
