Hostesses, note: This sauce is easily doubled, even tripled, to serve a crowd. 5- to 6-quart cooker Makes 6 servings 1 1/2 cups jellied cranberry sauce 1/4 cup orange juice 1 teaspoon orange peel 4 slightly underripe pears, peeled and sliced 3 cups nonfat vanilla ice cream Place sauce, juice, peel, and pears in an electric slow cooker. Cover and cook until the pears are tender, 6 to 8 hours. Serve warm over the ice cream. Per serving: About 278 calories, 0.5 g fat (2% of calories), 0 g saturated fat, 0 mg cholesterol, 74 mg sodium, 3.9 g dietary fiber. Cook's note: To make a pear puree, use fully ripe pears.
