Tex-Mex Pinto Beans

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

1 pound dried pinto beans -- (2 cups) sorted & rinsed

1 large onion -- chopped (1 cup)

2 cloves garlic -- finely chopped

6 1/2 cups water

1 tablespoon chili powder

1 1/2 teaspoons salt

1/2 teaspoon pepper

 

Mix all ingredients in a 3 1/2 to 6 quart slow cooker.

 

Cover and cook on high for 7 to 9 hours or until beans are tender.
