Zesty Nuts and Birdseed

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

2 cups unsalted cashews, pecans, or almonds

1/2 cup unsalted sunflower seeds

2 tablespoons butter or margarine -- melted

1/4 cup soy sauce

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce

 

Place nuts and sunflower seeds in slow cooker. Add melted butter, soy sauce,

salt, and hot pepper sauce. Toss nuts to coat with butter mixture. Cover and

cook on high for 2 hours, stirring frequently (about 4-5 times). Allow to cool

before serving.

 

VARIATION: Sunflower seeds can be replaced with pumpkin seeds or dried

soybeans.
