Guest guest Posted July 3, 2001 Report Share Posted July 3, 2001 * Exported from MasterCook * Cider-Braised Turnips Recipe By :America's Best Slow Cooker Recipes, Donna-Marie Pye Serving Size : 6 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : America's Best Slow Cooker Rec Vegetables Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 4 cups diced peeled turnip or rutabaga -- (about 2 pounds) 2 cups apple cider 2 tablespoons butter or margarine 2 tablespoons brown sugar 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg salt & black pepper to taste In slow cooker, combine turnip and cider. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours or on high for 4 to 6 hours, until turnip is tender and most of the cider has evaporated. In a bowl with a potato masher or in a food processor, mash or puree turnip. Add butter, brown sugar, and nutmeg; mix well. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
