Apple Cinnamon Sippers

2 cinnamon sticks

1 teaspoon whole cloves

1 teaspoon whole allspice berries

8 cups apple cider

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1 orange -- sliced

3 large baking apples -- (optional) cored

 

Place cinnamon, cloves, and allspice on a double thickness of cheesecloth.

Bring up corners of cloth and tie with an elastic band or kitchen twine to form

a bag.

 

Combine cider and brown sugar in slow cooker, stirring until sugar dissolves.

Add spice bag. Place orange slices on top. Cover and cook on low for 2 to 5

hours or until hot. Remove spice bag and discard.

 

Optional: For a decorate touch, cut apples in half crosswise and place, cut

side down, in baking dish. Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes or until

apples halves are fork tender. Place apples in punch, floating skin side up.
