Slow Cooker Scalloped Potatoes

 

Recipe By :Adapted From Fix-It and Forget-It Cookbook, Dawn J. Ranch &

Phyllis Pellman Good

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar

1 cup water

8 medium potatoes -- (to 10) thinly sliced

1/2 onion -- chopped

salt to taste

pepper to taste

1 cup grated American or cheddar cheese

1 10.75 oz can cream of celery or cream of mushroom soup

1 teaspoon paprika

 

Dissolve cream of tartar in water. Add potatoes and toss together. Drain.

 

Place half of potatoes in slow cooker. Sprinkle with onions, salt, and pepper,

and half the cheese. Repeat with remaining potatoes and cheese.

 

Spoon soup over the top. Sprinkle with paprika.

 

Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours or on high for 4 hours.

 

VARIATIONS:

 

For thicker scalloped potatoes, sprinkle each layer of potatoes with 2 tbsp.

flour.

 

Instead of sprinkling the layers of potatoes with grated cheese, place 1/4 pound

of Velveeta slices over top during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
