Tomato Spaghetti Sauce

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

1 cup finely chopped onions

2 cloves garlic -- minced

2 pounds fresh tomatoes -- peeled & chopped

OR 1 28 oz can tomatoes, cut up, with

juice

1 6 oz can tomato paste

1 tablespoon sugar

2 teaspoons vegetable bouillon granules

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon dried basil

1 large bay leaf

salt & pepper to taste

1 4 oz can sliced mushrooms

2 tablespoons cornstarch

2 tablespoons cold water

 

combine all ingredients except mushroom, cornstarch, and water in slow cooker.

Cover and cook on low for 10 to 12 hours.

 

Remove bay leaf. Stir in mushrooms.

 

Combine cornstarch and water and stir into sauce.

 

Cover and cook on high until thickened and bubbly, about 25 minutes.
