Guest guest
I really enjoyed reading all the answers shared by those of you who did so far. I tend to see questions like this, when asked me for whatever reason or motive of the asker, as an opportunity to share and maybe for them to come away with a different/better understanding of what vegetarianism is. As far as plant sentience goes, I say we cannot know. Bottom line is all must eat, so in choosing how I eat and take from this earth, I choose as gentle a path as I can. I then give them a few facts about how much raising one pound of animal flesh for eating costs. Did you know it takes 16 pounds of grain and 2,500 gallons of water to produce one pound of meat? I doubt many people who eat meat on a regular basis have ever think of that. By eating even a few delicious meatless meals a week we can all be a part of helping to conserve and use wisely our planet's precious resources. Then I tell them that I choose to do this every day because it makes me feel better both physically and spiritually. They usually cannot argue or debate with that. ~ feral ~
