That is where trust or lack of comes in, either you trust the person who is doing the statistics or you don't, if I were to trust the person that I would now that what they say is true with maybe an exception of an honest error, if I didn't trust the person then I would not trust the statistics that he presents to be true. Hmmm.... Interesting take on things. I always trust that the statistics say what they say. Its math afterall, and figures don't lie (or something like that). What I don't trust is that the question being answered by the statistics is really what I was asking. The trick to making statistics say what you want them to is simply to ask the right question. Once you learn to do that, you can make the stats say anything you want. And the numbers won't be lying. -- Sherri Life is a great big canvas and you should throw all the paint on it you can. - Danny Kaye
Guest guest
Sherri, In my career, I've put a lot of energy into sorting the statistics of others to determine how far the truth has been stretched. I'll tell you from first hand experience that in the hands of deceitful people, statistics can be made to lie quite easily. However, most people attempt to use it with the best of intentions. So, in the final analysis, statistics don't lie, PEOPLE DO. DaveO Sherri [sherria] >>...I always trust that the statistics say what they say.
