> Tell me what you put in your recipe, please. I have a blue front

and a cockatiel. I used to pet sit for a guy that raised birds and

he made his own food and it looked good enough to eat. He made it in

huge batches too but he had alot of birds.

The recipe I use for my birds is Mike's Mash

(http://www.birdsense.com/mash.html). It's loaded with great

stuff! I feed a Red Fronted Macaw, Yellow Fronted Amazon, Goffins

Cockatoo, and Timneh African Grey. I freeze it in baggies (put in

no more than you'll use up in three days), thaw in the fridge, and

serve. Each bird gets all they want to eat, as it's so healthy, so

experiment with the amount you feed. I'd *guess* that your 'zon

will take about 2-3 heaping tablespoons, and your cockatiel will

take about a heaping teaspoon, if that. The recipe as written lasts

my birds over 3 months -- so you might want to consider making up

1/2 the recipe. Folks mix the whole recipe in Coleman ice chests!

I also make up fresh sprouts for my birds

(http://www.sproutmix.com). I got the sprouters I use here

(http://www.sproutamo.com) and I love them. Sprouts are safe to

leave all day when you're at work, because they're a living food and

won't breed bacteria. Other wet foods need to be removed after

about 3 hours.

I also feed a good seed mix (whatever I can find locally) and often

sprout that. Every 2-3 days they get a little scrambled egg (no

salt, butter or milk) or a wee bit of meat, which they need for the

B12, D, and a few other nutrieints. In addition, I share healthy

raw produce snacks when I'm eating them (peeled if not organic). I

limit cooked and processed foods, and grains (unless the grains are

sprouted). I don't feed pellets or birdie bread. If you want a

really great resource about feeding birds, see

> Second, I have a food processor that Sears makes, mine is sort of

old too but it works fine and it's easy to work with and was cheaper

than the popular brands.

Thanks! :)
