Guest guest
There are certain groups of vegans who make the exception for ocean based foodstuffs... not really my version of vegan but if it works for them, i wont condemn them. we're all on our own paths anyways, no point in trying to herd us into neat little labels. When I was doing volunteer work at a soup kitchen, i knew a woman who was vegetarian. when they made soup that had meat in it, she ate it. she didn't have much choice. i still consider her a vegetarian. -k- ===== Where is this beauty? Really? Wow, I learn something new every day. I knew some vegetarians will eat meat of the fish, but I didn't think vegans would do that. I have learned so much about the different diets this past year. >we're all on our own paths anyways, no > point in trying to herd us into neat little labels. Right. No point even trying. But knowing a bit about how others define themselves does help when you are fixing them dinner. > When I was doing volunteer work at a soup kitchen, i > knew a woman who was vegetarian. when they made soup > that had meat in it, she ate it. she didn't have much > choice. i still consider her a vegetarian. > > -k- Absolutely! I agree. Namaste ~ PT ~ It is a very rare church indeed that encourages its members to think for themselves in religious matters, or even tolerates this, and in most of them the clergy are quite ready to lay down the law in other fields too. ~ Anne Roe

I agree 100% Mr Graves! I don't eat any meat whatsoever or any animal products, but my other half eats the odd bit of fish, but he hasn't eaten dairy for over a year and no other type of meat for about 8 years before that! People like to hassle him out, tell him he is 'wrong' or whatever, but hey, it is HIS choice and he is eating alot better and more thoughtful than most people in this world of ours. > When I was doing volunteer work at a soup kitchen, i > knew a woman who was vegetarian. when they made soup > that had meat in it, she ate it. she didn't have much > choice. i still consider her a vegetarian. This is always a difficult one. I couldn't eat something like this and would always make people aware before hand that I wouldn't eat it, therefore wouldnt be put in the situation. However, everyone is different and some don't find it easy in social situations to speak up about it. I think we've all been in situations where we've been served up something that ethically we cannot deal with. As a teenager I remember times where I just gave in, just ate some things in order to 'fit in' not appear like the 'odd one out' etc, even though I didn't enjoy it and was feeling very upset about it. I soon got over that..... I usually avoid eating in situations where this is likely to happen, and I don't think everyone is able to do this for whatever reason.
