Hi my name is Shanthini, 45, female, live in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

(South East Asia). I am a single mum and have a 5 year old boy (CJ

Hariharan) whom I brought up as a vegetarian. When he was 3 or so,

introduced him to chiken and fish. About a month ago, he told me that

he didn't want to eat meat anymore, cos he didn't want to eat the

animals he loved! Such wisdom!!Even though we did eat meat in the

past I rarely cooked it at home, cos my vegetarian cooking is GREAT!

An open invitation to anyone visitng out this end of the world.

I work with a theatre company. I mainly sing but also act when need

be. We have a website: www.instantcafetheatre.com

If anyone is interested watch Anna and the King...My claim to fame in

Hollywood. I played Jodie Foster's maid- 'Beebe'.

I am Hindu. Vegetarianism comes easy for me cos even as a kid we only

ate meat once in a while. My parents are now total vegetarians so it

isn't hard to be one.

I have a great recipie for a vege cake. It is so simple and delicious.

Try it

Vege Cake

250 grms flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp bi-carb soda

a little bit of salt ( only if you are using unsalted butter)

sift all of the above twice.

250 grms butter

1 samml tin condensed milk

1 tbsp golden syrup

7 - 71/2 tbsps milk or water ( I find milk better)

2 tsp vanilla essence

Melt butter over low fire till like water. add syrup. Add condensed

milk, milk and vanilla and stir well.

Pour mixture into flour and mix well.

Bake in oven 200 degrees for about 50 mins ( depending n how hot yr

oven is, use yr own discretion)

I use the same recipie to make banana cake ( 5 samll ripe bananas) or

almond cake or pineapple....just use your imagination.

take care.

Thank you once again for the invite.

will write soon more.

Love always

Shanthini

Warm welcome to you, Shanthini. I am glad you joined us. I have

several

bananas that need to be cooked into something right now. I was going

to

bake a banana bread, but your cake sounds better. :)

I do believe you are our first actor in this group. We have chefs,

writers,

anarchists, college students, retired folks, crones [lol] and

homeschooling

moms; daveo got some award for something he can't tell us about yet.

;) We

are a mixed bunch of vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. I look

forward to

reading your posts and sharing recipes with you.
