Guest guest
i want to clear something up. i certainly didn't mean to imply that all or even most people who eat meat are hostile. only that there are indeed a few who are rather hostile, or at the very least, extremely defensive of their meat-eating (e.g. once i told a guy at school i was a vegetarian he started going on and on " but other animals eat meat " , " didn't you used to eat meat? " " come on don't you miss cheeseburgers? " , etc.). I don't want anyone to be kicked out of the group because they eat chicken or fish or hell, even if they eat an occasional person. These people have at least given up red meat / pork which is way more than most of the people on this planet can say. But I agree with dave-o, I don't think living on a vegetarian diet is necessarily more expensive if you shop around and buy smartly- FYI, I only make $7 an hour, work only 2 days a week, and go to college full- time and my cupboards are hardly bare. The only problem i could see is that veggie burgers and the like tend to have less calories than meat, so they are less filling and you might have to eat some more high carb food to fill up. Granted you might need to make some sacrifices, say eat out less, since veggie/vegan restaurants tend to be more expensive than mc donald's. also, personally i don't eat that many vegetables; mostly soy, beans, and other legumes. my theories aren't really for school, although i'd like to maybe research them someday, they're just something i threw together for fun. I have also heard of another theory- that adrenaline in meat can make people more aggressive. Also, since meat-eaters don't usually eat as much plant food as vegetarians. Eating less plant food usually means insufficent boron. (i'm still trying to find out what foods have the most but no nutrition i've seen says) which means estrogen doesn't work as well (yes this does effect men too) which makes people " bitchy " . if this is true, it certainly isn't the whole story, since obviously not all meat-eaters are hostile people. just food for thought, super dave
Guest guest
I am not hostile towards meat eaters, but I do find that they are towards me and my husband. For some reason many people think that a vegetarian diet is bad for you. Yet when i remind them about ill effects of meat, they have to tendecy to look at me as if I spoke in an alien language. Is being a vegetarian more expensive. I say no I have compared lists, and actually see that for the same amount of money a meat eater, and a vegetarian has. The vegetarian will be able to buy more food. Besides how expensive is it to eat rice and beans for lunch? jasmin _______________ The new MSN 8: advanced junk mail protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail
