and my digests to reply to. Let me first just say welcome to all the

new

members and assure you that this place is fun and quite interesting

(IMO). I

do caution you to consider going to digest b/c of the message volume

we

generate.

I will just get these replies out of the way and then share with you

all some

recipes....

Anna: " Seems everyone is having heated debates here. I suggest we all

just

eat popcorn! No really, P_T ferel defianately fits. I'm sticking to

recipes,

seems to be the safe route. "

Yes, indeed. I think I will pass on the popcorn until later this

evening though,

but I agree with you. I am more into recipes and food discussions

than

debates. I am glad others seem to be enjoying themselves with it.

*lol*

Might I also add that rudeness is a personal perception. It is easy

to read

rudeness into another's post or into the written word. Some people

are blunt

and as such come across a bit aggressively or more abrassive in text,

even

when it isn't their intention. I choose to imagine everyone smiling

when I read

their replies here, in hopes that they are enjoying it as much as I

am. Let us

all refrain from name calling or accusations. Calling people an

" ignorant

person " or a " sick F*** " etc... uncalled for. I know I don't enjoy

reading such

things and it has been expressed to me privately that others do not

either.

TIA

> We all share a > common goal and that is to end animal suffering.

Sherri: " Bzzzzzz! Try again please. That's not MY goal, and I

didn't see it as

a requirement of joining this list. "

You are correct. We have all come here for different reasons and

animal

rights issues are not a requirement. Some of us are here for health

reasons

and some of us for animal rights etc. We all have one thing in common

and

that is we know refraining from the consumption of meat is good for

us,

whether on a spiritual or physical level, and often times both.

But Sherri, you don't like cats!? *lol*

Mr. Graves has asked kindly several times if the use of the word

retarded

could be curbed. I don't think he is asking too much and if he is

sensitive to

that, can't we honor his request out of courtesy? Now, I might slip

up come

spring when discussing how a cold snap retarded the growth of my

tomato

plants, or something to effect. *lol* But I feel we can stop trying

to rile others

with our choice of language. The wonderful thing about typing is it

is slower

than speech and we can control it more.

Lisa: " P_T I will look around for sites about the bone char, however

as it is

a US issue I don't have it off hand. In Australia bone char hasn't

been

used anywhere in over 12 years. "

Wow, 12 years. Bravo to OZ. Thanks a bunch, Lisa, and don't put

yourself

out digging up info for me. I just thought you might have it readily

at your

disposal since you seem to know quite a bit on the subject.

Lisa: " I'm saying discussing hot topics can work and even though this

list is

unmoderated maybe we could have some lose rulessuch as the no

swearing

one that might make it a tad more friendly discussion. "

The only problems I see with that are cultural. Some folks may not

consider

certain words " swear words " depending upon where in the world they

are

from. However, I do agree, this can work, and hopefully without me

having to

act as a guide. I would suggest that everyone just choose how they

reply

during debates, trying as best they can to remain civil, thoughtful

and polite.

I understand this is all subjective, but we are adults and can behave

kindly

towards eachother, yes?

The Stewarts: " A Low, Throaty Growl ; emphasis on " feral " now and

then

see? "

Yes, we needn't try to scare folks off. This is a friendly list.

I enjoyed your recipe of Penne Pesto. Thanks.

Robin: " OK guys, if you are going to fight, please fight nicely and

keep the

profanity out of the header. My kids sit on my lap sometimes and read

over the headers with me. ....I would hope we are all mature adults

with

respect for others. "

I noticed you didn't change that header though. Oops. *lol* But I

agree, please

everyone, let us stop with the name calling. I have the controls to

teach you

manners via moderation mode, but I'd rather not use that. I have

better

things to do with my time. Golden rule, folks. It is a biggie but not

a tough or

jagged little pill. ;)
